I have a cousin who has hypoglycemia. One time, we were at the mall and he suddenly collapsed. I was horrified and didn't know what to do. We took him to the doctor and that's when we knew that he has hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is defined as simply having low blood sugar. This is when your
body sugar is very low and you can no longer produce energy for your activities. Hypoglycemia may seem very insignificant to having diabetes, but, it's not.
Hypoglycemia is also a side effect for diabetics who are under medication. Diabetics are required a
strict healthy diet everyday. They are also prescribed a lot of medication. Several of the medications taken by diabetics control the body's blood sugar. Thus, this sometimes leads to hypoglycemia when the body lacks too much sugar.
The solution for hypoglycemia is to eat
healthy foods that are rich in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main source of glucose. Hypoglycemia is not at all serious. You just have to know the precautionary measures to be undertaken when dealing with it. Sometimes, if hypoglycemia is left untreated, it can very well lead to loss of consciousness. So, a diabetic or not, you should be aware of your blood sugar to prevent such situations.
