When I was young, my parents always told me that I should not sweet foods like
chocolates and cakes. It's because we have a history of diabetes. My maternal grandmother had diabetes and so with my Uncle. Having a family history of diabetes alarms me. Why? Because those foods that they mentioned are actually my favorites. From that day on, I keep telling to myself that I would never eat too much sweets. I have to be a disciplined person to be able to do that. Although I love those foods, it's clear on my mind that I love my life more.
After many years, I have kept that promise. I still eat chocolates and other sweets but in minimal. I also makes sure that I am always healthy and in good shape. I also did some research about the disease and did some
preventive measures to avoid it. Aside from that, I always exercise and work out in the gym. Discipline plays a very important role in my life since I have known our family history. And I can honestly say that discipline has also helped me in other aspects of my life. It made me a better person that what I expected.
